Build the location scout book
Turn screenplay locations into practical records for permits, power, safety, sun, and call sheets.
Suggest locations from the script
Choose Suggest from script to scan Studio sluglines. Review each suggestion, then choose + Add to book only for locations you want. Suggested scene references follow screenplay order rather than printed revision numbers, so confirm them against a numbered shooting script.
Complete the practical record
For each location, record name, address, scenes, parking, power, load-in, nearest hospital, permit and release status, coordinates, civil UTC offset, notes, and photographs. Hospital, parking, and load-in feed the call sheet. The flatter Production Office location list is separate.
Protect scout photographs
Scout photos are stored as reduced JPEGs and included in supported project backup and cloud media flows. A missing-photo tile means the record still points to an image absent on this device. Deleting a location deletes its photos after confirmation; deleting one photo is immediate. Export a backup with media first.
Verify permit and stage listings
Permit and stage directories are starting points for supported hubs. Use Advisor location can select the closest modelled hub. Directory descriptions and fees are abbreviated planning information and may be stale or incomplete. Confirm requirements, lead time, insurance wording, availability, and price on current official sources.
Check sun and technical constraints
Enter a pin, date, and the location’s civil UTC offset, then choose Compute for sunrise, golden-hour boundaries, sunset, dusk, bearings, and solar noon. A blank offset produces a labelled longitude estimate that can be wrong around borders or daylight saving. Use the power fields and Read from the note, then verify on the tech scout.
